How do I use the balms?
Using your finger, scoop some of the balms into your palm. Rub your hands together to warm the balm, then apply to body or hands as you would with a lotion. Because it is highly concentrated, a little goes a long way. The plant oils will absorb into the skin and the beeswax will provide a protective breathable barrier to hold the moisture in. Reapply as needed when skin starts to feel dry.
Can I use the balms on my face?
Yes, with the exception or the sore muscle rub due to the cayenne and black pepper which would be very irritating to the eyes. The plant oils and beeswax are safe to use on your face and are non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores). They can be used as a protective barrier to wind and cold.
You use all natural and organic ingredients. Are they just as effective?
We believe nature’s plants provide the best healing and moisturizing properties. Many of the ingredients typically used in the skin care industry are included because they cost less, not because of their effectiveness. We use ingredients that are certified organic whenever possible and always high-quality natural ingredients. You will never find parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrance, propylene glycol, petroleum jelly, mineral oil or other toxic cosmetic chemicals in our products.
My doctor recommended salve with vitamin E. Do your products contain vitamin E?
Yes. All of our products contain sunflower seed oil which is naturally high in Vitamin E. Many of the other oils we use also contain a rich spectrum of vitamins, including Vitamin E.
How long with it last once it is opened? Is there an expiration date?
Typically it will last at least 12 months, but we’ve used products that are several years old and were still fine. The plant oils and beeswax used in the balm have naturally occurring preservatives in them. Also, because there is no water added to the balm, there is no need to add chemical preservatives.
How should I store my balm?
We recommend storing at room temperature. Temperature extremes such as freezing or melting can affect the consistency of the balm, making it softer or creamier, but still perfectly fine to use. However, we do not recommend leaving your balm in your car on very hot or cold days.
Do you use bear oil?
No. Our products are made with plant oils, beeswax, and essential oils.
Are your products safe for children?
Yes. The products are formulated to be safe for children and adults.
How long will the scent last?
Essential oils start to break down over time so the balm may lose some of its scents over time. Keeping the tin closed between uses will help to minimize this.
